PRESS RELEASE: September 11, 2000
NEHA Credential Recognized as Insurance Criteria
Since the beginning of NEHA's operation of the National Radon Proficiency Program, it has received several inquiries from members regarding errors and omissions insurance. This interest has been due to requests by clients as well as a concern over personal liability.
Previously, insurance carriers have been reluctant to provide errors and omissions insurance without high initial premiums. In part, this has been due to the lack of a credential that would indicate an individuals technical capability as one of the criteria used in determining insurability. This has been an obstacle to small firms obtaining insurance and entering larger markets.
Several insurance carriers have reviewed the NEHA credentialing program as a criteria in determining technical and procedural qualifications. After several months of review, we are pleased to announce that an A+ rated firm is now in a position to write errors and omissions insurance for NEHA certified radon professionals at a very reasonable rate.
The NEHA credential is held in such high regard, it is a requirement for initial insurability and subsequent policy renewals. NEHA-NRPP certification is the ONLY certification being accepted.
This work was done as a value-added service to NEHA certified individuals. Although good business practice, errors and omissions insurance is not a requirement of being certified by the NEHA-NRPP. Neither NEHA nor its sub-contractors receive any portion of any premiums paid by the insured party. Should you decide to apply for insurance, the process is strictly between you and the insurance agents designated below.
